The Dinosaur, the Dodo and the Unicorn

Dinosaurs, they roamed the Earth back in the Jurassic.
But why did they all vanish? The question is a classic.
Well, scientists have finally learned the cause of their demise,
and frankly, it should come as no surprise…

They didn’t look both ways when they crossed the street.
They didn’t wash their hands when it was time to eat.
They sat too close when they watched TV,
and that’s why they’re not here, you see?

The dodo bird existed since the prehistoric ages.
But you won’t find the dodo in your local zoo’s cages.
They became extinct, yes, but why did that occur?
Now, at last, we know for sure…

They didn’t pick their toys up from off of the floor.
When they came in the house, they didn’t close the door.
They didn’t brush their teeth at night,
and that’s why they’re not here. That’s right!

People say that there was once a horse who had a horn.
But others say there never even was a unicorn.
Now we know that yes, there was, but they are gone away,
and this is what their mothers had to say…

They never said, “thank you”, never said, “please”.
They wouldn’t eat broccoli, spinach or peas.
They didn’t do their homework, too,
and that’s why they’re not here. It’s true!

The dinosaur, the dodo bird and the unicorn are gone.
But you can guarantee that your own species will live on.
Don’t do what they did, and do the things they should have done,
and you will find your life a lengthy one…

You gotta look both ways when you cross the street,
and wash your hands when it’s time to eat.
Wear some mittens when the weather’s cold,
and you’ll live to be a million years old!
It’s true! That’s right! You see?
